Circulation Information

Get a Card

Anyone residing in Delaware county is eligible to receive a library card (there is no minimum age.) Adults must apply in person. Individuals 17 and under must have a parent or legal guardian present  (with identification) to sign the application. A parent or guardian may obtain a card for an individual under the age of 17 without the younger person being present.

Acceptable identification must have your name and current address. Acceptable identification includes:

  • Current driver’s license
  • Rental or lease agreement
  • Utility bill or Credit Card bill
  • Property tax bill
  • Recently postmarked mail
  • Car registration
  • Check book with name and address

Your library card may be used at all 28 Delaware County libraries.

If you wish to have borrowing privileges at a library outside of Delaware County, you must take your Delaware County card and your identification to that library and register to become a member.

If you are a resident of Radnor Township your card will have a Radnor Memorial Library sticker on it. By showing this card at Chanticleer, A Pleasure Garden, you will receive reduced admission.  If you are a Radnor resident but register for your card at another Delaware County Library you must bring your card to Radnor Library to receive a Radnor sticker.

As a Radnor resident you will have access to some digital ebooks and audiobooks through Overdrive that are in addition to those offered through the Delaware County Library System Website.

Once you have a DCLS card you will have access to a number of 24/7 online resources. These include

  • Research, informational and just for fun databases
  • Access to your account to renew or request items, or see currently checked out items
  • Digital ebooks and audiobooks

Radnor cards are also available to:

  • College students living on campus at colleges and universities located in Radnor Twp.
  • Persons who own property in Radnor Twp.
  • Teachers in Radnor Township public schools
  • Persons who work in and pay occupational tax in Radnor

For further information on these categories of membership contact the Circulation Desk at the library.

If you do not live in Delaware County you can obtain borrowing privileges in our libraries by bringing your home library card (with a blue Access Pennsylvania sticker) and acceptable identification to a Delaware County library and filling out a registration form.  Your home library card will then be entered in the DCLS system.

Cards are valid for 3 years from date of issue, and expire so that we can verify our contact information for you.  If you receive a message to this effect, just contact the Circulation Desk  at 610-687-1124, Ext. 10 to update your information. If your card is expired, it will prevent you from using your account online.

If you have lost your library card, we can replace it for you at the Circulation Desk.  There is a $3.00 replacement fee.

If you need more information, please contact the library by phone at 610-687-1124, Ext. 10.

Renew a Book

You can renew your item/items in several ways: Online, over the phone or in person at any Delaware County library.  To renew over the phone, call the Circulation Desk at 610-687-1124, Ext. 10. When renewing in person, you will need your library card or ID but will not need to have the physical item at hand.  When renewing online, all material may be renewed except for materials with reserves and materials on which you owe fines. Each item is given a maximum of 3 renewals. You may renew items that are overdue over the phone or in person.

How to Renew Online:

  1. Log in via My Record link in the DCLS Catalog.
  2. Click the “Items currently checked out” link to view the materials you have checked out.
  3. Select the materials you want to renew by checking the boxes in the RENEW column and then click the Renew Marked button. If you want to renew everything, click the Renew All button.

A message will appear on the screen; “The following item(s) will be renewed, would you like to proceed?” Check yes. You will then go back to your “Items currently checked out” list and the item you renewed will say “Renewed, Now Due (DATE)”.  Or, you will receive a message saying “Not all renewals were successful. See details below”. An example of this would be too many renewals, item has holds, etc.

Pay My Fines

For fines totalling $10.00 or more, you have the option to pay online with a credit card. Log in via My Record in the DCLS Catalog. At the top on the left-hand side of the page you will see “$xx.00” in unpaid fines or bills. Once you click on this link, you will see a Pay Online icon. Click, and you will be prompted to select some or all of your fines to pay.  Make your selection then click Continue to Paypal where you will be prompted for your credit card information. Next, click continue and it will tell you if your payment has gone through successfully.

When paying a fine in the library, we accept cash or checks.  We are currently unable to accept credit cards at the Circulation Desk.

Request an Item

You can reserve items in several ways: Online, over the phone or in person at any Delaware County Library.

In order to reserve an item online for pickup at Radnor Memorial Library, from our Radnorlibary.org homepage, click on the Catalog link. Once you are in the catalog, you can search by title, author, etc. to find the item you are interested in.  When you locate the item by clicking on the link for the correct format (book, book on cd, etc.) you will see a checkmark “Request” icon on the top left-hand side of the page. Click on this button and you will be prompted to enter your name and library card barcode. Choose Radnor as your pickup location from the scroll down menu, then click submit.  The catalog will display a message telling you that your request has been successful and you will be contacted by the library when the item arrives.

If you are requesting multiple items, it is generally easier to click on MY RECORD link first, enter your information then proceed with search and requests  from within your record. This way you won’t have to re-enter your information more than once. When doing your searches this way, the Request link appears under each title.

Once requested items arrive for pickup, they will be held for 5 days.  You will be notified by phone or email depending on your chosen preference.  In order to pick up reserved materials you will either need to present your library card or ID.   If you wish to have someone else pick up your hold(s) you will need to give them your library card or have signed a waiver giving them permission.

Please note, this process is for the physical items only in our catalog.  To request electronic media such as Ebooks and Audiobooks, follow instructions on county website:Search ebooks and audiobooks to download

Access your Online Account

To view your account online, go to the Catalog link of the DCLS website. Click on the link My Record where you will be prompted to enter your name and barcode number from your library card. If you do not have your card number you may call the library to get that information. Once in your record, you will be able to review your currently checked out items, reserve items and see status of pending reserves, renew items, see if you owe fines, pay any fine balance exceeding $10.00, and sign up for email notifications.

Sign Up for Email Notifications

While in your record, click on “Modify Personal Info”. Enter your email address. Choose email under choice of how to receive notices and click submit. Once you have signed up for email notifications you will receive courtesy reminders 3 days prior to an item’s due date and notification of your reserved items ready for pickup and how long they will be held.
