Museum Pass Program

Adults with Delaware County Library System cards in good standing are welcome to check out a pass to one of a host of local museums and attractions to use for free admission and more. 

Museum Pass Program Updates Due to COVID-19

  • Due to ongoing COVID-19 safety requirements, information is subject to change.
  • Museum hours, operating procedures, and reservation systems vary by museum.  Please check with each location prior to your visit for this information.

Check Out Information

  • Museum passes can be checked out for 7 days unless noted below.  They cannot be renewed.
  • Passes may be requested in person at the library or by phone.  If available, the requested pass can be held for up to 3 hours or until closing, whichever comes first. If the pass is not checked out within that timeframe, it will be made available to other users.  Passes are not holdable through the library catalog.
  • Museum pass pick-ups are available during library hours.
  • Only one Museum Pass per person may be borrowed at a time.

Return Information

  • Do not place Museum Passes in the outside book drops.  Passes must be returned in person.
  • Passes not returned within 7 days will be assessed a $5 per day fine.

American Helicopter Museum and Education Center
The museum focuses on the history, science and technology of rotary wing aviation.  Visitors have the opportunity to climb into a real helicopter and to experience a flight simulator.
Pass admits: up to 4 individuals

Battleship New Jersey
887 foot long and 45,000 ton, this is the nation’s largest and most decorated battleship.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 3 children

Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles
Housed in the main factory building of the old Boyertown Auto Body Works are a wide variety of vehicles from cars and trucks to wagons and carriages, almost all of which were built in Pennsylvania. Also featured are a 1938 diner and a 1921 gas station.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 3 children

Brandywine Conservancy and Brandywine River Museum of Art
A museum featuring American art with a focus on the Wyeths and the Brandywine Valley.  Includes access to two nature preserves: Laurels and Waterloo.
Pass admits: 4 people. Children 5 and under free

Brandywine Zoo
A small 4.7-acre zoo in Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware, featuring river otters, bobcats, capybaras, and more.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 4 children

Chanticleer: a pleasure garden
A colorful contemporary garden within an historic setting.  This pass can be checked out for 3 days.
Pass admits: up to 4 people (seasonal pass)

The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation
Authentic living history site representing an average Pennsylvania farm of the late 1700’s with interactive exhibits and animals.  *
Pass admits: 2 adults and children under 18 living at the same address (seasonal pass)

Drexel University’s Academy of Natural Sciences
Philadelphia’s natural history museum offers surprises for all ages, from changing interactive science exhibits to a children’s discovery center, a fossil dig, and opportunities to interact with real science experts.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 5 children

Eastern State Penitentiary
ESP was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, housing many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone.  Tours offer a glimpse at life inside the prison’s historic cell blocks.
Pass admits: up to 5 individuals

Elmwood Park Zoo (2 available)
This 80-acre zoo maintains a collection of over 100 species including bald and golden eagles, jaguars, red pandas, Chacoan peccaries, howler monkeys, and gray wolves.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 6 children

Fort Mifflin
The only fort in Philadelphia was a Revolutionary War battlefield, a Civil War prison, and a storage for gun powder in World War II. 

Glencairn Museum
Formerly a home, the Glencairn Museum is a castle-like mansion in Bryn Athyn that contains about 8,000 art works, mostly religious in nature, from cultures such as ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, the Roman Empire and medieval Europe, as well as Islamic, Asian and Native American works.
Pass admits: up to 6 people.  Currently, reservations are required.

Hands-on House
Hands-on House in Lancaster offers interactive exhibits, classes and events geared for kids ages 2 to 10.

Independence Seaport Museum
The ISM is dedicated to the maritime history of the Philadelphia region and other major urban ports along the Delaware River. 
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 4 children

John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove
Situated on a historic 18th-century site, the Center features hundreds of life-size portraits of birds, the original three-story farmhouse, miles of nature trails, and a brand new building with indoor and outdoor exhibits.

Lancaster Science Factory
The Lancaster Science Factory is a hands-on, interactive learning center filled with curiosity and creativity as kids from Pre-K through 8th grade learn the principles of science and the application of science in engineering and technology.
Pass admits: up to 5 individuals

Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle
The Mercer museum, contains almost 30,000 items of daily life in America before the Industrial Revolution collected by Henry Chapman Mercer. Fontfill Castle was his home.

Mt Cuba Center
Botanical garden in Hockessin, Delaware, known for woodland gardens that produce spectacular displays of wildflowers.
Pass admits:  4 people (Children under 5 are free) (seasonal)

Museum of the American Revolution
The Museum of the American Revolution is a Philadelphia Museum that opened in April 2017 dedicated to the history of the American Revolution.
Pass admits:  2 adults and up to 4 children

Mütter Museum 
The Mütter Museum is a medical museum located in Center City.  It contains a collection of medical oddities, anatomical and pathological specimens, wax models, and antique medical equipment.
Pass admits: up to 4 individuals

National Constitution Center
The National Constitution Center inspires active citizenship as the only place where people across America and around the world can come together to learn about, debate, and celebrate the greatest vision of human freedom in history, the U.S. Constitution.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 4 children

Philadelphia Magic Gardens
Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens is an immersive outdoor art installation and community arts center located on Philadelphia’s South Street.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 3 children

Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
The RMP, located in Strasburg, PA, houses one of the most significant collections of historic railroad artifacts in the world.
Pass admits: up to 4 people

Reading Public Museum
Galleries feature art, science, arms and armor, ancient civilizations, Pennsylvania German culture as well as various temporary exhibits. In addition there is a planetarium and a 25 acre arboretum.

Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum
The Simeone Foundation Museum exhibits 60 rare race cars from the personal collection of Dr. Fred Simeone.

Tyler Arboretum
With a history dating back to 1681, Tyler Arboretum is located in the heart of Delaware County with over 650 acres of scenic woodlands, wetlands, and meadows.

University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
The Penn Museum features three gallery floors of amazing art and artifacts from ancient Egypt (including mummies), the Bible Lands, Mesopotamia, the Greco-Roman World, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
Pass admits: 2 adults and all household children

Wings of Freedom Aviation Museum
Located on the former Willow Grove Naval Air Station, the museum has 19 historical aircraft on display in the museum building and the outdoor display area. 
Pass admits: General admission for up to 8 people

Museum Pass Policy

General Information

  • Delaware County Library cardholders ages 18 and above with no fines or fees on their account are eligible to borrow a Museum Pass.
  • There is no fee to borrow a Museum Pass, however, fees will be assessed if it is returned late, damaged or lost.
  • Borrowers must sign the RML Museum Pass Policy before checking out a pass for the first time.
  • The guidelines for each Museum Pass are different. Please refer to the information included with each pass at check out or see RML’s Museum Pass webpage for details.

Late, Lost, or Stolen Museum Passes

  • There is a $5 per day overdue fine for Museum Passes. The maximum fine is the cost of the particular Museum Pass (e.g. $210 for the Academy of Natural Sciences, $110 for Morris Arboretum).
  • If the Museum Pass is damaged, the patron will be charged the museum’s fee for a replacement card.
  • If the Museum Pass is lost or stolen, the patron will be responsible for the full cost of the replacement membership.
